Get Smart About Art (GSAA)

Colorful children's artwork depicting dance, music, and whimsical characters, displayed on a red wall with green and orange paper backgrounds.

Get Smart About Art is a series of in-class workshops where students are introduced to a featured artist and their unique style, then complete a related art project. Over the course of the program, students typically explore the work of 2–3 artists, gaining both artistic knowledge and hands-on creative experience.

Grade-level coordinators organize each workshop, with a parent volunteer serving as the presenter and additional parent volunteers assisting with the art project. Running from late winter through early June, the program culminates in a vibrant, school-wide Art Show celebrating students’ work.

Get Smart About Art is led by East School PTO volunteers in partnership with every classroom teacher, and is made possible through the generous support of East School families to the Annual Appeal.
