Description of PTO Volunteer Opportunities
Annual Appeal Chair
All Year The Annual Appeal Chair manages the campaign where East School families are asked to support the PTO through voluntary financial contributions. Duties include all appeal communication, advertising, reporting and follow up including donor thank you. In the Fall, the chair speaks on behalf of the Appeal at the Fall All School Meetings. |
BOKS Trainer
Fall, Winter and Spring Parent volunteers are needed to help run this before-school physical activity program for East students. One-day training is required. Once certified, volunteers will coordinate and manage 40 minute classes that include warm-ups, movement drills, running activities, obstacle courses, games and a brief nutrition discussion. |
Get Smart About Art
Spring (TBD) There are many different opportunities for volunteers to get involved in East School's annual art program. Responsibilities include either attending Get Smart About Art Workshops for training on upcoming art projects, volunteering in the classroom on project day, or assisting Chairs with the June art show. |
Pop Up Explorers
One or Two Half-Days (TBD) Volunteers will assist with running the Pop-Up Explorers program, held on school half days from 12-2 (first Wednesday of every month). Room Parents
All Year Room Parents assist classroom teachers as needed throughout the school year. Responsibilities include coordinating classroom volunteers, managing class parties, coordinating one class "coffee" for parents, coordinating teacher gifts and helping drive class participation in the PTO Annual Appeal. One class parent must be at classroom events to assist volunteers. Volunteer Orientation Required: Date TBD at East Elementary School. The PTO and teachers choose room parents together so inquire directly if you are interested. |
School Beautification Committee
All Year or Specific Events Only Assist the Beautification Chair with a one day school beautification project or help out during the school year. Examples include planting flower bulbs, planting flowers in pots outside the school, hanging holiday wreaths/decor, and assisting school custodians with mulching or other large scale beautification projects. |
Snowflake Sale
December The Snowflake Sale is a one day event where kids "shop" in the East School gym for holiday gifts for family and friends. Shopping items are donated by East families. Volunteers will work with the Snowflake Sale Chairs to organize and implement the event: last minute shopping, decorating and setup, and working at the Sale. |
Sunshine Committee
All Year Assist our Sunshine Coordinator in acknowledging special occasions or events for our community members or in reaching out during a difficult time. Responsibilities may include writing notes, sending flowers, or coordinating meals. Sunshine volunteers may also help with the new family "meet and greet" program. |
